Trip introdutction
Ghorepani Poonhill trekking- is located in Annapurna region and the trekking give a wonderful opportunity to witness the beauty of the Annapurna region within a short trek. The trek starts just north of Pokhara that means we start the trekking walk start from Nayapul. It takes a moderate level of fitness to complete, and the max elevation is 3210 meters. Parts of the trek are nature trails, heading through rhododendron forests with rainforest like foliage all around you. Pokhara is the closest main access city to begin treks into the Annapurna range. You can enjoy the poon hill (3210m.) view in 180 degree view in sunrise on the Annapurna Himalaya with impressive mountain scenery.
Wonderful villages inhabited by the Gurungs, dense rhododendron forests full of birds and typical local village and pure nature. Ghorepani and Ghandruk are two of the largest Magar and Gurung settlements in the Annapurna area. There’s a exceptional please of trekking in Annapurna foothills along with the pleasant settlement of ethnic society of Nepal. This trekking is possible to make a short and long itinerary as your wish between 7 days to 10 days but below given program itinerary is more trekkers used in former through by us and found more fun during their trekking in Nepal.
Itinerary
Day 01 – Arrive At Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu
You may arrive at the airport at any time. When you arrive, you will be welcomed by one of Nepal Hiking Team’s representatives who will be there to greet and welcome you. You will then be transferred to your hotel and further information will be given to you by the representative. As you do not have anything else planned for the day, you may relax at the hotel for the remainder of the time. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02 – Fly To Pokhara (910m/2985ft) 25-Min then trek to Tikhe Dhunga (1495m/4903ft) Duration: 5 Hrs
You will take a short and scenic flight to Pokhara today. Pokhara is a wonderful city that is also called “the Lake-side City” because of its many lakes and water bodies. At Pokhara, you can look at sights of mountains like Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Machhapuchhre, five peaks of the Annapurna range and many other tall pinnacles. Upon your arrival at Pokhara, you will then take a drive to Nayapul that lies 42 km away from the city. Driving through the large village of Lumle, you will be presented with sights of terraced farmlands and lush hills. A 20 minute walk from Lumle will take you to the large and prosperous town of Birethanti. Following the main street, the trail continues through bamboo forests and goes past a large waterfall and a swimming hole. Beyond that, you will come across a pastureland used mostly by pony-caravans. You will have your lunch at Ramghai and then will gradually continue to climb up the side of the valley until finally reaching Tikhe Dhunga. Overnight stay at the guesthouse at Tikhedhunga. Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 03 – Tikhedhunga To Ghorepani (2,850m/9,348ft) Duration: 7 Hrs
You will leave Tikhedhunga today and walk on the trail that passes a steep climb. Reaching Ulleri, you would be able to observe and roam around the Magar village of Ulleri that is located at an altitude of 2,070 meters. After an hour’s walk from Ulleri, you will reach a resting point. Trekking further, the track ascends slightly as you walk on oak and rhododendron forests until finally getting to Banthanti. Banthanti lies at an elevation of 2,250 meters and from this point; you will be walking to reach the settlement of Nangethanti situated at the altitude of 2,460 meters. An hour’s walk away from Nangethanti is Ghorepani. It is a beautiful settlement that is sometimes covered in snow during the best seasons of the year. At Ghorepani (2,840m), views of mountains like Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Nilgiri (6940m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and more present a spectacular sight. Overnight stay at the guesthouse at Ghorepani. Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 04 – Hike Up To Poon Hill and Onto Tadapani (2,610m/8,560ft) Duration: 7 – 8 Hrs
This is the most important day of the trek. Beginning your trek early in the morning to Poon Hill, you will watch a mystical moment of the rising sun from behind the ivory mountain peaks. The sight of this manifestation is breath-taking! Poon Hill presents gorgeous views of mountains like Mt. Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Mt. Nilgiri (7,040m), Annapurna South (7219m), Himchuli (6441m), Lamjung Himal (6,986m), Machhapuchhre (6,997m), and more from its vantage point. Spending time taking pictures at Poon Hill, you will then return to Ghorepani. From here, you will then trek to Tadapani on trails that go through rhododendron blooms. In the spring, the trail is adorned with 15 different species of rhododendron flowers. At Tadapani, you can view the sight of cerulean Himal as well. Overnight stay at a guesthouse at Tadapani. Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 05 – Tadapani to Kathmandu
You will trek to Ghandruk on this day. Ghandruk lies at the elevation of 1,950 meters. Passing on through verdant woodlands and walking for approximately 3 hours, Ghandruk village emerges ahead of the trail. It is a beautiful and dainty settlement made up of houses that are built of stone and mostly occupied by Gurung people. Continuing down to Kimche, you will then drive to Pokhara. Once there, you will catch your flight back to Kathmandu. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kathmandu. Meals: Breakfast and lunch included.
Day 06 – Farewell
Approximately three hour before your flight, you will be transferred to the airport by one of Nepal Hiking Teams representatives, and then you will depart, hopefully with wonderful memories of the trip.
